Does WHMIS expire?

WHMIS training does not carry a single fixed national expiry date, but Canadian OHS law requires that worker training stays current โ€” so employers must refresh WHMIS whenever hazardous products, hazards or work conditions change, and most refresh at least annually as good practice. Other certifications do have clear recency rules, and they vary by province: first aid/CPR is typically valid for three years, Ontario's Working at Heights training is valid for three years, forklift and powered-mobile-equipment operators are commonly re-evaluated every three years, respirator fit tests are usually annual, and TDG and H2S Alive are generally valid for three years. This tool gives common defaults; always confirm the exact period with the issuing body, your provincial regulator and your employer.

Never miss a renewal again

Complys tracks every worker's WHMIS, first aid, tickets and licences with automatic reminders before they lapse โ€” so your crew stays qualified and you stay OHS- and client-ready.
