COR® is run by a different certifying partner in each province, each with its own official elements and pass marks — so pick yours to get the right check.
How COR® certification works in Canada
COR® (Certificate of Recognition) is a national standard delivered province by province. Each province’s certifying partner runs its own audit against its own official list of program elements, and sets its own pass marks — so “COR” in Ontario is not scored the same way as “COR” in Alberta or British Columbia. An external auditor verifies your program, your records and your worksites against those elements, and the certifying partner issues the certificate when you meet the standard.
In Ontario, IHSA’s COR® 2020 program has 14 elements, and to certify you generally need at least 80% overall, at least 65% in every element, and 100% on the audit’s legislated items. In Alberta, the program has 10 elements; a certification or recertification audit generally needs 80% overall and at least 50% in each element, while a maintenance audit needs 60% overall. In British Columbia, the BCCSA runs COR® with a Small COR® stream for employers of 19 or fewer and the full COR® for 20 or more, at 80% overall and 50% per element. This tool estimates readiness against the official elements for the province you pick; it does not replace the certifying partner’s audit tool or an external auditor’s judgement.

No. It's a free, unofficial readiness estimate to help you prepare. Complys is not a Certifying Partner and isn't affiliated with IHSA, ACSA or BCCSA. Your official COR® result is decided by a certified auditor against your province's current audit protocol.
Why does it change by province?
COR® is a national standard delivered provincially — each certifying partner uses its own official element list and pass thresholds. Ontario's IHSA COR® 2020 has 14 elements and needs 80% overall plus 65% per element; Alberta's has 10 elements and needs 80% overall plus 50% per element to certify (60% overall for a maintenance audit). So the checker uses the right elements and thresholds for the province you pick.
How is the percentage worked out?
Each official element is scored ready / partly / not (full, half, zero) and the elements are combined with even weighting to give an estimated readiness percentage. Even weighting is a Complys estimate to keep it simple and transparent — it is not the certifying partner's official element weighting or auditor marking.
What about the 100% legislated-items rule in Ontario?
IHSA COR® 2020 also requires 100% on the audit's legislated items to certify. This checker estimates element readiness and does not test those legislated items one by one, so it shows the requirement as a caution — a strong estimate is necessary but not sufficient until every legislated requirement is fully met.
Do you support British Columbia?
BC (BCCSA) is shown as an overview for now, with the pass standard and the Small COR® vs full COR® split explained, but without a score. We only score against a province's official, verified element list, so BC detailed scoring will be added once that list is confirmed.
