How this works
WorkSafe New Zealand’s good-practice guidance on workplace first aid suggests roughly one first aider for every 50 workers in a low-risk workplace, and one for every 25 in a high-risk workplace such as construction or manufacturing. It’s a starting point — as the PCBU you must carry out a first aid needs assessment that considers your actual hazards, shift patterns, how remote the site is, and how quickly emergency services can attend.
